EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT FRANCK MULLER'S LATEST WATCHES
Thanks to their distinctive shape, it's impossible to mistake a Franck Muller for anything else. But even before the extended lines of the famous Curvex case, Franck Muller was one of the most important watchmakers of his era. In the early days of his career, Franck Muller showed an incredible skill with complications — debuting his first tourbillon in 1984, followed by ingenious double-sided chronographs and, eventually, the Art Deco-inspired Curvex case that would become his signature style. In 1991, Franck Muller launched his eponymous brand, and in the years since, Franck Muller's watches have become synonymous with glamorous opulence, combining complication with colour and a refreshing sense of playfulness that's hard to ignore.
Franck Muller exhibits their new watches at the WPHH (the World Presentation of Haute Horlogerie), and this year was no different. Here are three standout models from Franck Muller's 2025 collection.
The Vanguard Sfumato Slim
Offering a pared-back take on the signature case shape, the Vanguard Sfumato Slim is an exceptionally sleek and comfortable watch to wear. The comfort comes from the ergonomics of the case, paired with the fact that at 9.1mm tall, it sits effortlessly on the wrist. When it comes to sleekness, that's the sfumato at play. Sfumato is an Italian concept that is translated as 'vanished' or 'softened'. On this watch, that translates to the dial, which is subtly darkened around the outer edges to create depth, contrast and even a hint of mystery. It is offered in a range of colours, which defines not just the dial but also the matching strap and elements of the case. Speaking of the case, the Vanguard Sfumato Slim is offered in stainless steel or rose gold.
The Vanguard Royal Bauxite
While the Vanguard Sfumato Slim speaks to the elegance and refinement of Franck Muller's design, the Vanguard Royal Bauxite showcases the exuberance and exhibitionist nature of the brand. Crafted from a special aluminium alloy that allows for particularly strong anodisation, the Vanguard Royal Bauxite is offered in a range of vivid hues on both the case and the open-worked movement. The combination of striking colour and the X-like motif of the movement bridges is a powerful look, almost as powerful as the movement itself. With a large balance wheel beating at 18,000 vibrations an hour and a remarkable seven days of power reserve, the Vanguard Royal Bauxite has the substance to back up the unmissable style.
The Vanguard Curvex Cut Flower
Inspired by the fleeting yet intense beauty of a cut floral display, this fine example of Franck Muller's art intertwines delicate petals among the open-worked movement, creating an object of true beauty. Cased in a fully diamond-set rose or white gold case, the centre of this refined 32mm case shows six precious flowers, made using the specialised Curvex Cut — with 73 facets and set in such a way to allow the shape of the stone to follow the curvature of each petal, resulting in a floral display with light, movement and a sense of depth. The Vanguard Curvex Cut Flower is more than an entrancing jewellery object; it is a testament to Franck Muller's mastery of sophisticated jewellery design and technique, as well as poetic design.
